Do you know a single mother in the Hampton Roads communities who deserves special recognition? We are looking for a single mother of character who, despite the many obstacles of single parenting, has successfully raised academically and socially responsible children. If you know someone like this, then Still Hope Foundation would like to receive your nomination.
Still Hope Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c) 3, non-profit, charitable organization that focuses on empowering single mothers (from teens to widows). Having been inspired by their own mothers, the founders of Still Hope created the Dorian Award to honor their mothers.
In choosing the Dorian Award recipient, the selection committee will consider the single mother's:
- ability to provide for herself and her children
- efforts to pursue an education
- efforts for career advancement
- persistence, perseverance and resourcefulness
- demonstrated ability to balance children, work, relationships, and her own self-fulfillment
